How is our state preparing early educators for their roles in ECE? How might we improve that preparation? The Higher Education Inventory strives to answer these questions for state administrators as it assesses the landscape of early childhood education degree programs within a state. The CSCCE team reviews how students are being prepared for ECE roles, examining elements of programs from course content to opportunities to put learning into practice in field-based experiences, and program and faculty characteristics. This information allows state administrators to identify the strengths and opportunities in existing degree programs, make informed policy decisions, and assess the capacity of the higher education system to prepare future early educators.
