This brief focuses on efforts to support the whole child in and out of school, including efforts in afterschool care programs.  Particularly, the brief concentrates on the Science of Learning and Development (SoLD) Alliance approach, which focuses on diverse research from neuroscience and human development into an integrated approach to science of learning and development. The SoLD approach can be utilized in after school settings to foster learning, healthy development, and employ practical applications of the methodology.
