This brief proposes elements of a high-quality standard across public and private pre-kindergarten education providers in Massachusetts. Areas of focus include the following: teachers' and program leaders' credentials; curriculum and practice standards and guidelines; accreditation by the National Association for the Education of Young Children or its equivalent; and appropriate assessments of children's progress over time.
