Family Services of Westchester is dedicated to ensuring high quality early education, continuity and consistency of the Performance Standards while embracing a family-centered approach. Although this has been a particularly difficult year due to COVID-19, we have persevered and withstood the repercussions of COVID-19. We transitioned to a remote learning model during the spring of 2020, and maintained the program’s integrity by adhering to the EHS/HS Performance Standards, while frequently communicating with the HS Grantee Specialist for guidance and technical assistance. Throughout the year, the Family Services of Westchester management team, as well as our community partners, joined forces to assist the Head Start and Early Head Start program in providing resources that would help sustain remote educational services for some students and transition to in-person services for others. In addition, family support and emergency essential supplies and personal protective equipment (PPE) were provided and our mental health specialists worked continually with parents and staff to address social and emotional concerns during this very difficult time.
