Pilot testing of PBS Kids Transmedia Suites report: A report to the CPB-PBS Ready To Learn Initiative

Description:
This report describes the results of WestEd's pilot testing of beta versions of three PBS KIDS transmedia suites in preschool and elementary school classrooms. The pilot testing is part of WestEd's larger Ready To Learn (RTL) formative evaluation activities for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) and the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS). The goals of the pilot testing were to determine: 1) how the PBS KIDS transmedia suites were used in the classroom, including determining whether the suites were suitable for the classroom environment, identifying the advantages of using the suites in the classroom, and identifying the barriers to classroom use, and 2) what impact the beta versions of PBS KIDS transmedia suites had on student learning, including determining whether students demonstrated learning around target skills and gains in knowledge after interacting with the full PBS KIDS transmedia suites.
