Linking Schools and Early Years (LSEY): Research snapshot: Snapshot two

Description:
The LSEY project aims to enhance partnerships among early years services, schools, and child/family services in order to achieve smooth transitions to school in three communities in Victoria, Australia. This brief highlights improvements, based on comparisons of evaluation data collected in 2008 and 2010, in the provision and creation of: formal and informal transition programs; consistent information for families; stronger cross-institutional relationships; and publicity of services. Increases were found in rates of both parent and child attendance in transition activities and school visits before formally starting school.
