Families often face challenges during the assessment process. Employing a family-oriented approach to the assessment of young children with and without delays/disabilities can help reach more people in need of relevant supports and services. One strategy to develop optimal family participation during their child’s assessment process is through collaboration. This article will share considerations for collaborating with families in rural or hard-to-reach areas who have a young child encountering assessment(s) focused on early identification of a delay or disability.
