Description:
This examination looks at Georgia's Childcare and Parent Services (CAPS) program, a child care assistance program that is experiencing a funding shortage, and how investing in child care assistance can strengthen the workforce and the economy. It considers the program and the challenges low-income families face with it. It also discusses the relationship between subsidy receipt and low-income parents' employment by looking at the ways in which child care assistance can help parents either become better employees and earn more or, if unemployed, find work. Recommendations for increasing access to child care assistance and quality child care are provided.
