The Guam Early Learning Council in partnership with the Department of Public Health and Social Services has been overseeing the implementation of the Guam Preschool Development Grant (PDG) Birth-5. The grant is designed to promote the developmental needs of children ages 0 to 5 and to target children from at-risk families such as, lower income families, underserved families, and economically disadvantaged families. On Guam, with approximately 14,000 children representing the ages of birth to age 5, it is essential that Early Childhood Education services be offered to support families and their children. One of these services includes helping families prepare their children for kindergarten readiness. These efforts are prioritized by the Guam Early Learning Council, whose goal is to help lay down the foundations for learning, health, and behavior for all children on Guam. (author abstract)
