This statewide needs assessment is intended to inform understanding and improvement of the Alaska ECE system, with particular attention to low-income, disadvantaged, and rural children. This needs assessment is funded by a Preschool Development Grant Birth Through Five (PDG B-5) awarded to Alaska’s Department of Education & Early Development (DEED) by the Administration for Children and Families, and jointly administered by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the U.S. Department of Education. For Alaska, the core grant focus on children birth through age 5 years is expanded to include children prenatal through 8 years of age where data and information allow. (author abstract)
