Using a trauma-sensitive lens to support children with diverse experiences

Recently, the Division for Early Childhood (2016) released a position statement on child maltreatment that highlights the need for effective supports for children who experience trauma and their families. To address this need, this article highlights signs of trauma during early childhood years and strategies that teachers can embed in the classroom environment that might be useful for children who have experienced traumatic events.
