School readiness in Sacramento County: Comprehensive report 2016

Description:
This report provides a "snapshot" of readiness in the First 5 Sacramento network, as well as a "story" of readiness that examines the family and early education contexts of children entering kindergarten in fall 2015. The first section of this report presents the study's methodology: sample design, instruments, and data collection methods. The next section presents the demographic, health and well-being characteristics, as well as family backgrounds of the children assessed. This is followed by a detailed analysis of student readiness across the different skill domains and an exploration of the various child and family factors associated with school readiness. The report then describes an analysis of the associations between First 5 participation and school readiness and concludes with a summary of major findings. (author abstract)
