[Review of the book Cradle to kindergarten: A new plan to combat inequality]

Description:
Chaudry and colleagues propose a comprehensive ECE strategy with four connected components: (1) a new federal paid parental leave program, (2) a restructured system of public subsidies for nonparental child care, (3) a program of federal support for locally administered universal preschool, and (4) a restructured Head Start program focused on the period from pregnancy to age 3. Overall, the proposal is thoughtful, evidence based, and detailed. (author abstract)
