Safe sleep practices and sleep related infant death prevention strategies in child care

Description:
A review of child care health and safety regulations in California was conducted as part of a Department of Defense Military Child Care Initiative administered by Child Care Aware(R) of America, formerly the National Association of Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies (NACCRRA). These standards were compared with national standards including the Department of Defense Effectiveness Rating and Improvement System (ERIS), the Department of Defense Instructions (DODI) and the NACCRRA health and safety benchmarks. A statewide Health and Safety Regulatory Workgroup was convened as a stakeholder group to: (1) support best practices and improve child care health and safety standards in California; and (2) make recommendations to the California Department of Social Services Community Care Licensing Division (Licensing) on regulatory reform for California's child care health and safety regulations.
