Renewing Head Start's promise: Invest in what works for disadvantaged preschoolers

Description:
In May 2014, Results for America (RFA) issued its third federal Investing in What Works Index, which highlights the extent to which the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and four other federal departments and agencies are currently building the infrastructure necessary to be able to use evidence and evaluation in budget, policy, and management decisions. While this RFA index highlights Head Start as one of ACF's most evidence-based programs, the following paper outlines several policy recommendations that can help make Head Start even more focused on data and evidence and improved outcomes for our nation's young people.
