Partnership with whanau Maori in early childhood services

Description:
This evaluation focused on how early education services work in partnership with the families (whanau) of Maori children. Findings are summarized in two parts: (1) an overview of the proportion of services that showed effective relationships with whanau; and (2) the themes of effective partnership. Overall, findings indicate that Maori children's language, culture, and identity are not being valued and acknowledged enough to reflect a genuine partnership. Recommendations include providing professional development to educators to improve the quality of relationships with whanau Maori.
