Maine developed a competency framework to support infant and toddler teachers and caregivers across setting types. The competencies within the framework are grouped into seven domains: (1) infant and toddler growth and development; (2) health, safety, and nutrition; (3) relationships with children; (4) relationships with families; (5) observation and assessment; (6) curriculum and approaches to learning; and (7) professionalism. The competencies are embedded within the Maine Infant Toddler Credential. Thus, this profile will focus on the credential. (author abstract)
