Preparing equitable and inclusive early childhood educators: Three evidence-based strategies

Description:

The purpose of this article is to describe three effective and evidence-based strategies that are part of the Blueprint process (Catlett, Maude, & Skinner 2016). This article is organized to support readers to learn about and utilize these strategies. Following a description of each strategy, we illustrate how Josephina and her colleagues use it to enhance their early childhood courses and program, with the goal of preparing students to work with children and families in developmentally, culturally, and linguistically responsive ways. We conclude by sharing resources that can help early childhood program faculty deconstruct and reconstruct their syllabi. (author abstract)
