Click through the story map to see: Map #1: The Supply and Demand map shows the number of slots available for child care versus the number of children in the area. Map #2: The Infant Toddler Desert Map by Type of Care shows the number and type of child care centers that provide care for toddlers in the state. In Alaska, families with infants and/or toddlers really struggle to access child care. Our key stakeholders (listed below) wanted to know in which areas of the state families with very young children might be struggling the most to find care for an infant or toddler. For each map, we examined the locations of child care providers and children by zip code, including county boundaries for reference. For a breakdown of tallies by zip code and county, review the print-friendly brief included on the last slide of this story map. (author abstract)
