Oregon Kindergarten Assessment: Fall 2012 pilot process evaluation: Key findings and recommendations

Description:
Sixteen schools across Oregon were nominated and selected to participate in a pilot to study the process of implementing the selected assessment tools. The process evaluation of the pilot project was funded by the Ford Family Foundation, and was designed to collect information about the implementation process that could be used to improve the statewide rollout in fall of 2013. Specifically, the process evaluation was designed to provide information about: The type and amount of training needed to administer the assessment instruments effectively and with fidelity; The time and resources needed to collect the assessments; What modifications might be necessary for students on an Individual Education Plan; Approaches for assessing children who are learning English; and Perceived benefits of, and challenges to, statewide implementation of the OKA. The process evaluation study took place September 2012 through January 2013. This report presents key recommendations and Oregon Department of Education response to the recommendations from the three process evaluation components (author abstract)
